I recently bought 512 of this ram and it is NOT compatible with the L2000. It will crash your comp at start up, it is not worth it. You really need to buy guaranteed ram that'll work with the laptop. Just a warning, now I have to return this and spend more money to get the real ram. Just a thought.

Kingston PC2700 RAM failed? That's a surprise, I can't recall Kingston RAM failing on HP AMD notebooks before. Has anyone else tried Kingston on their L2000/V2000z?

I called tech support and he noted that I had bought a generic ram module, not specifically tested on HP systems. Despite it "should" being able to fit in the slot and meeting specs, it still somehow managed to cause the OS to bluescreen and die immediately. Since I was under no guarantee, I couldn't do anythign about it. Now I finally ordered official guaranteed Crucial memory. But if you want to go kingston. He noted that guaranteed notebook ram for the L2000 would be KTH-ZD7000. So if you want ram from kingston for your L2k, get that series.

Oh and on another note, I have no idea if the ram is defective, I just don't want to chance it at this point in time. So I'm just gonna play it safe. Either way, I'll lose a bit of money. Cheers.

Sounds like bad RAM, I recently purchased and installed the KVR333X64SC25/1G (1GB) from Kingston and have had no problems. Do notice that “KVR” stands for “Kingston Value Ram” meaning it’s only distributed by Kinston and not manufactured by them. The module I received was marked as Infineon as the original manufacture. The memory has been stress tested once already well using 1.5GB++ on a past compile/publishing job I was working on. In fact I’ll probably soon have to order another 1GB stick from them.

Hope you get your L2000 up and running soon.

Yikes! Good to know. I'll definitely favor Crucial then.
