Okay, so I'm on my new shiny HP dv6700t...thus far, it's amazing!

However, I want to downgrade to XP Professional and I'm ready to do this. I've already gotten all the drivers ready.

However, there are some programs that came on my la[top that I would like to transfer over after I do my downgrading. One of them is Cyberlink YouCam (which is pretty cool).

Can I copy the programs and then transfer them over to my laptop once it has XP? Or are there some serial numbers that I can write down, and then download the programs and register them? I really don't want to pay, and since HP included them, well, I ought to use them!

    Thanks in advance.

I would check HP's site and see if you can't download a copy of any software there. If you can, then you could simply download them once you change. :)

Just tried that. They just let you download some drivers and stuff, but no bloatware. In fact, I don't know of any computer company that would let you download bloatware from their site. It's just included on the new computers...

Hm... well then I guess if you can go through the programs you want to keep and find out where you can download a trial and see if you can find an upgrade key built into the programs you have now... Just a thought. Hope this helps!

There's a folder called "swsetup" in the root of your drive from the factory that has all the apps and drivers in it. YouCam should be there as well.

    Wow! Thank you!
I was about to downgrade, but figured I would check the forums one last time. I don't know if this will work (not sure if drivers will be compatible) but it is worth a try! Thanks!

Not everything may be compatable but YouCam definately should be. It's always good to have a back-up of this folder anyway. Have fun.
