I have a new dv6500t and my volume lights don't light up. In the picture below I have my volume at 100% yet it isn't lit up. All the keys work, so I was wondering if this was on everyone's laptop or if I should send mine back.

    Hey Vasto,

Your laptop is fine. For the volume controls, only the square + and - symbols are only supposed to light up, not the little tick marks inbetween the + and -. You should have only a total of 9 lights lit on the black QuickPlay media strip. Any HP Pavilion with QP 3.0 or higher is like that.

lol. sorry if I confused you guys. I used the webcam and held it up to a mirror. I don't understand why HP wouldn't light up the little bars, it doesn't make sense to have them then.

    Hi:

I have had this question asked since I do support for these units. The - and + do light up but not the section in between. I have checked at least ten different models but still a very few customers tell me that their unit used to show an active bar. All I can says is after checking at least ten different models I can not see the bars indicate fluctuating audio. If anyone out there has a particular model that does I would also appreciate knowing.
Again the blue volume bar is lit on the bottom - and + but in between no activity as far as I can see on ten units, different models.

I have the same problem. My lights worked fine until I flashed the BIOS. I updated the BIOS again and they worked but quit again. The other day, I updated Quickplayer and they quit working. I reinstalled the BIOS soft paq and they worked but have quit again. I flashed the BIOS again and they worked. Quit again.

the very first dv9000's did not even light up the "+" and "-".
all the buttons on these first dv9000's were surrounded by a more sharp cornered box, as opposed to the round cornered boxes you see on all current dv9000 models.
