    I have a DV9288ea laptop I have just recently got it back from HP after they carried out there second repair on it for different problems.

    I got the laptop back on Friday and soon as i got it i noticed that the some of the keys on the numeric keypad on the right doesn't work. :mad:

    What i have found is that the keys

    0 . -> Do not work
    1 2 3 -> WORK
    4 5 6 -> Do not work
    7 8 9 -> WORK

    And all keys above that the "home", "end" "pg up" etc do not work
    Also the left and right arrow keys do not work.

    My laptop is upto date it has the latest BIOS as taken from the HP site.

    I have raised support with HP but was wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

    [My laptop is just 7 months old and already I have had to return to them for repairs twice and had a host of other issues - A big waste of money this laptop has been compared to laptops I have had in the past :confused: ]

    type hp media library in google and then click the first link i think and then go through the menu thing and then select FRU remove/replace and they have videos on how to take things apart and back together again.

    You were spot on v3loc1ty2.0. I followed the video instructions from the HP Media Library and as i removed the keyboard i noticed that one of the two clips which hold the ribbon into place wasn't closed properly. Soon as i fastened it the keys work fine. :D :D

    Thanks for the help, appreciated, saved myself the time and hassle of having to send it back to HP. Thanks again

    PS Caveman, Thanks for the info on the HP Media Library it's very helpful

    Yes i had the same problem with my dv9500. Mind you that this problem was caused after i sent in my laptop for repair.

    They ended up replacing the unit after a month of repair at HP Tech Support on the issue turned up no fixes.
