I've gotten an R3000Z a while back. It works pretty well for the most part, but I have some small problems. My keyboard will sometimes lock up when I pressed a certain key for a certain amount of time. For example, after I pressed "w" to make my character move forward, he will sometimes continue moving even after I released the button. This is especially annoying in FPS games, where an imprecise movements mean death. Is there a way to fix this?

Sounds like possibly sticky keys or something similiar is turned on. Try going to accessibility options with the wheelchair and see if there is anything you can turn off that relates to this.

I had a problem just like that on one of the Medal of Honor expansion games, they worked fine on my ze4000.

When I installed them on my zx5040us is where that problem started.
After several trys at playing the game, I uninstalled it and reinstalled it again, no problem since then[ :)]

    Hope this helps.

I doubt it was an installation problem, since this happens with all of my games (UT, KOTOR, Jedi Outcast, to name a few.)

You may want to try updating the BIOS. I've heard of problems with the keyboard locking after a specific series of keys were hit together (can't remember wich ones). But check with HP to see if they have a new BIOS update and give it a try.

I have a very similar problem - sometimes my MSI S271 ignores all keystrokes for a few seconds. I tried updating to the latest version of BIOS as well. Happens in all games.

My laptop uses an AMI BIOS and a chipset from AMD. Wonder if it would be possible to find the source of this problem...

Why not try a different keyboard just to eliminate that possibility?

try holding down a key in notepad and see if it keeps typing if you let go of the key (this will tell if it is hardware or software or windows)
