Hi, I'm having problems with my HP Pavillion dv9000t laptop using windows XP. The keyboard has stopped functioning though the quickplay buttons do still work. The laptop is about 14 months old (2 months out of warranty). The mouse & touchpad work fine and plugging in another usb keyboard does work as well. The drivers appear to be working. I reinstalled those just in case. Nothing spilled on the keyboard but it just stopped functioning. I did open up the case and check the connector (just one that I saw) and it appeared to be connected to the motherboard.

Any other software or settings that I might have missed to enable/disable the keyboard? Though any component can fail, a fairly new laptop keyboard is not usually at the top of the list. Any suggestions appreciated before I go out and buy another keyboard to see if that solves the problem. Thank you

No drivers needed for keyboard, it should automatically be detected.

Check your device manager to see if it exists

I have checked the HP website for support and related problems but found no match. Can't hurt to try chatting with an HP online tech though, so I will try that avenue too.

I checked the device manager and it shows the keyboard to be properly functioning (though its not). Plugging in a separate usb keyboard does get auto detected just fine and does work.

re-check the keyboard connector one more time, if that doesnt work then contact hp and they should send you a new keyboard if its under warranty
