I've had my HP Verve DV2550 for about six weeks.
Today, the B and N keypad on the keyboard lifted up. I pushed them down and they work like all others. However, the B keypad lifted up again. I pressed it down and heard a "snap" like it went into place.
HP said they will take the notebook back and replace the keypads. Should I? I hate to be without the computer for weeks if I don't have to but neither do I want a problematic keyboard.
Is this a common problem?
I love this notebook, but the honeymoon is over. I didn't expect this type of problem so soon.

The keys do "snap" if they need to be popped back on. Were you just typing normally when the keycaps lifted off? if so, I would see if you can get a new keyboard. If you were doing something strange or type funny, you may want to see if they come up again. To be honest, I would be very wary of a keyboard that having problems after 6 weeks.

If you are competent with basic tools, why don't you ask them to send you a new keyboard with a printout of the instructions so that you can do it yourself? They will express ship it to you and then you send the bad one back. Download a maintenance manual for your series of laptop and look at the instructions for changing your keyboard to see if it is past your skill level. Go to the HP site or post another thread asking for the download location.
Make sure to keep a copy of all correspondence so that if you need to send in your PC for warranty work later you can show why it was opened up and that it was authorized by HP. -

Nothing went wrong today so I'll wait a while to see what happens. If I must part with it, I think I'll wait a little longer to see if there are any other problems. As long as the keypads stay in place, it seems okay.
And yes, HP said they would replace the keyboard, not just the keypads...my typo. -

I'm not but others I know are. This is an excellent suggestion and I didn't even know they would do something like that. I just hate to be without the laptop for up to two weeks.
Thanks both for the helpful information.
