I have a Compaq/HP 6515b that the lcd screen flickers any time there is a hard drive seek. is this a sign of a bad blacklight or ?????

This laptop has been is use for around a year with out any problems.

It is possible that the inverter took out the lights so they're flickering similar to florescent lights when they go bad.
It is possible that it's the screen's backlight too, but I suggest to change the inverter first as it's not expensive.

You can connect it to an external monitor to see if the problem only occurs to the LCD.
