Hi, since I bought my 9500t CTO (my first notebook) I've been concern with the protection of LCD display. I own a PPC (Dell axim x50v) and I keep it protected with my screen protector, it's like new, no scratches at all.

Does anybody know about one screen protector that would fit my 17'' screen? and what about the top cover part of ours 9500t? How could you keep that outside part from getting all those finger print every time you touch it? any ideas

As far as I know, it's really...really HARD to scratch these types of screens if not to use force or extreme conditions like "stonefall" or something similar.

it's probably not necessary, unless you know you'll be ruff with it, and as far as the fingerprints go, they (should have) provided you with a felt (or some type of soft cloth) rag to wipe away any fingerprints or smudges, it has worked nicely for me anyway.

Just buy a lint free cloth at your local Walmart, normally found in the electronics section, if they don't have it try Best Buy. Normally only like $1.00 for a decent size one that will last you for months...

    Its what I use =)

After owning a couple of dozen laptops, I have concluded that the best way to clean the screen is to use a clean washrag with a very small amount of distilled vinegar (especially with the glossy screens).

Most important, never let droplets of any type of liquid get close to the edge of the screen, as sometimes, the liquid can get sucked in between the glass and the TTF mat. (I have runied 2 screens this way). While it never killed the screen, it will make it very ugly, even after the liquid has dried (may take months on its own). I have been un-successful at taking them apart to fix this sort of problem (although I was able to improve the situation).

Also, be very carefull using pressurized air around the edges (I blow the dust out of the fan and keyboards once a week). Pressurized air can chill the glass, creating moisture (thus creating droplets) that can get sucked into the glass as it flexes).

    Joe

Thanks everyone for your suggestion. I will try the link at ebay and will try searching those lint free cloth... but I won't be able to go to wallmart as I am in dominican republic and we don't have wallmarts here (but soon there will be, as wallmart boght one large market in my country), but I will try other malls we do have here.

It's also a really good idea to spray the cleaner onto the cloth, then use the cloth on the screen. Never spray the cleaner directly onto the screen.
