Hi all,
I recently bought a HP Pavillion dv4-1413tx notebook. To be precise 9th August 2009. So, its just about 2 months old.
About two days back I started experiencing this weird problem. The bottom most two arrays of pixels does not seem to be working properly. They keep flickering with different colors. The flickering is usually between the colors Cyan or Magenta (from what I can see).
Though its just two pixel arrays (from the leftmost to the rightmost pixel), it is very irritating to work when it keeps flickering.
These two arrays of pixels do not display anything related to the rest of the screen. For ex: when I am on my desktop, the bottom part of the taskbar is what is supposed to be displayed on those two rows. But that is not happening. They just flicker randomly between the two colors.
The flickering is not related to any of the applications that I run. Whether I am on the desktop, or playing a movie, or browsing the internet, the pixels keep flickering in the same way.
Moreover, if we label the bottommost pixel array as array 1 and the pixel array just above it as array 2, the pixels in the array 2 sometimes display normally. Array 2 predominantly flickers with the color cyan and between two such flickers (not between every two flickers, but completely random), I am able to see the actual display that the array of pixels is supposed to be showing. So, I feel that the array is not completely conked out, but it is just not working in the proper manner.
The array 1 predominantly flickers with the magenta color.
I have tried my best to explain the problem. If you have understood the problem and have a solution to get it back to normal, please do help me out.
Thanks in advance.

Simple solution is just send it back to HP and have them fix it. it sounds like the display's cable might have come loose, but trying to fix it yourself just voids your warranty; not worth it when its only two months old.
