    Hi!

Could you DV6 owners please write your hardware ID and computer model number here?

You can check it under Device manager > Monitor > generic PNP monitor > description tab > (pulldown menu) hardware ID.

    It would be really helpful.

    Thanks

Based on your previous posts, I assume you're looking for a specific brand to have or avoid?

Yes. I'm trying to avoid SEC. I don't like them at all.

That's what's going through my head. Maybe it's based on the lot they got from a specific supplier, or maybe it's a different factory?

Btw, going to device manager > monitor > properties > details can give you false info on your screen. For instance for my laptop the info under "hardware ids" says SEC3651 and under "compatible ids" says PNP09FF. A quick google search will tell u that these values are generated by windows to state that it can not detect your monitor's manufacturer and model and therefore labels it as a "plug-n-play monitor".

The manufacturer and model of my screen is Samsung LTN156AT05. For pics see
    the following thread

LGD027C - but it was a replacement screen from ebay. The original was an AU Optronics screen that cracked.

As far as I know, there are several screens that HP uses whether it be from LG, AUO, or Chi-Mei, and they just generically name it a "Brightview" screen for marketing purposes.
