I just ordered a dv6t Quad edition notebook, and I noticed that it has an LED screen on it. Is this the first time HP is employing LED's with thier laptops?

Can I expect any kind of quality difference? I'm assuming that they consume less power, but I thought I also read that LED's usually have deeper blacks and better contrasts than LCD's.

So I'm just wondering if there will be any noticable difference when compared to thier LCD counterparts. Thanks.

That's really something you should have checked out before you make your purchase. However, if it's any consultation, LED's have had the higher reputation since they arrived. They also save energy. So if nothing else, you have that to be proud of.

Well it's kind of hard to research or get any impressions of the ACTUAL screen when the laptop was just released last night. Also, it's not like I had the choice between the LED and LCD with this new laptop. The LED was the only option, so there wasn't really any point in comparing the two when I first configured the unit.

I'm simply trying to get some extra little details about people's experiences with LED technology. I'm not concerned that the quality will be any less...just merely curious of the chance that it MIGHT be better. I have a week or two to wait, so might as well have a discussion about it.

Way to come out looking like a pompous *** btw.

LED is the better technology. CFL backlights are obsolete.

    A few basic things

    1) Use less energy
    2) Brighter whites
    3) Instant on maximum brightness (CFLs take 10 minutes to warm up)
    4) Don't degrade - CFLs loose maximum brightness as time passes on

Just about every computer manufacturer has switched to LED LCD screens notebooks because of these advantages.
