Today I've set up to test the battery of the Athlon 64 notebook:
zv5000z Athlon 64 3700+ /15.4 SXGA screen with a 12-cell battery.
Initial charge 97%.
Final 4%, took 3 hour 22 minutes to discharge!
-> LCD at full brightness, wireless on. *Constant* web surfing and Word processing. Plus, installed Mozilla.
Pretty close the the 3.5-4 hours of mobile pentiums, only it can outperform any Dathon, when needed.
Impressive as I used to 1h20min on my ze1230 just doing word typing.

Nice to know. The athlons are making quite a move into notebooks. If I could find an athlon 64 notebook with a radeon 9800 I would be sold[

Wanna see something really neat? This guy reports he's successfully undervolted his new A64 3400+ to 1200MHz @ 0.875V, which used up only half the battery in 2-1/2 hours. I'm not sure if he was using wireless though. Still, most impressive.
Yeah HP, hurry up with an A64 notebook with GeForce 6600...Last edited by a moderator: May 5, 2015 -
I read in another forum someone had a conversation with a tech guy at HP and they said they are working on another GPU solution for the A64 line of notebooks, and that was all he could say. Though I think the real policy is of a company like that is that they can't comment on questions like that at all. But then again, sure they are working on it, we all figure that already. Any company is always looking to improve it's products. But when it comes to A64 notebooks it seams like they are always never complete. There has always been something. Maybe there will be more of a selection with the next genereation A64 notebooks to hit the streets.
I have been close to buying the Ferrari 3200 and the Compaq r3000z but the Ferrari 3200 only has an 8 cell battery and no UXGA screen while it has a WAY better fully DirectX 9.0 GPU. And the other way around with the Compaq r3000z.... [!]
LOOK, and you will be amazed too : )
