I've hooked up a Compaq Presario A918CA to a 1080 lcd and it looks great but i would rather run it at 1280x720 instead of 1920x1080(visibility set to 150%).

Unfortunately that setting is not available with the Intel GMA X3100 graphics chip. The nearest that it can come up with is 1280x960.

Anyone found a solution in a similar case?

almost sounds like the display isnt what it says it is. 1280x960 is the same aspect ratio as 1440 x 1080 which if i remember correctly is the resolution that 1080i camera's shoot in. Which is 16:12 using square pixels.

I just wanted to check, atm your running it at 1920x1080? I checked every other resolution and aspect ratio I can think of and nothing comes up.

Yep, running at 1920x1080(16x9). The next lowest is 1280x960(16x10).

It's either the graphics driver or the monitor driver(which is no name).

1280x800 is 16:10. I just realized this by the way 16:12 is 4:3 so yeah not so odd now that I think about it. Strange it wont let you choose the right resolution to keep with aspect.
