you could try to grab one of the radiance in the hp parts store, if they have any to sell, which I dont believe. The swap should be more complicated due to the e2e design.

And the only other possible upgrade is the cpu, I would advise not to go for a quad core, but to a i7 640m. You could also swap the DVD drive for another HDD, so grabing a SSD to be the main drive and to have good storage.

I thought the DVD drive in the Envy 14 was a different size? Would a 2.5" drive fit?

And yes the radiance is in the parts store for $350 but comes pre-assembled with the entire top lid so pretty easy to change

depending on the height of the 2.5'' yes it would fit. there are 2 different sizes 12.5mm and 9.5mm being the latter the common one, and the former the more spacier. What you need to buy is DVD caddy, just go on ebay and get one with the same size as the drive that you have.

The FHD screen is the first thing I would upgrade. I still can't see why they charge so much for high-end laptop with a 720p screen.

I'm kinda glad that my 14" Envy order with the radiance screen using the $500 coupon was cancelled because they 'ran' out of screens...no USB 3.0 or express ports to expand with. The eSata port would have been okay. Plus waiting for the corrected Sandy Bridge laptops should have better performance...
