    Hello.

I recently purchased a HP Pavillion DV9720us Notebook. When it's on it makes this horrible noise. It's like I can hear maybe the fan running. It's about to drive me insane. I can't stand hearing it.

Anyone know what the noise might be and if this is normal? Or should I take it back to where I bought it or call HP?

    Thanks In Advance,
    -Cass

If it's just the fan running, then there's nothing to be worried about, it's completely normal. What makes you think it's something bad or is it just annoying? Though I wouldn't call the sound a fan makes as some "horrible noise," which makes me think there may be something wrong or you don't like the fan running at all. You may want to get a T61 if fans really bother you and get a refund on the HP while you can.

I have no idea what it may be, but I would either contact support or return it. Mine is so quiet I hardly ever hear it.

I can definately hear it and it's annoying. And its worse when I have it on a hard flat surface versus on my lap.

Will be calling Circuit City tomorrow.

    Thanks!
