Hi, recently my laptop screen has started to buzz/hiss and occasionaly flickers with the flickering getting worse the longer i leave the laptop screen on. The flickering starts to go down if i turn down the brightness of the laptop but the buzz remains. I read that this maybe caused by a dieing laptop screen inverter but I am not sure if this is the cause as I heard that it is due to the AC adapter power needing to be converted but with my laptop, if I unplug it from the AC adapter and run it with battery, the problem still persists. would anyone be able to help me identify what is wrong?

    I'd guess the inverter too.

i read that the inverter was something that converted the AC adapter power to somethign the lapotp can use. wouldnt running the laptop on battery solve this problem then if it was the inverter?

if it makes any difference, ive noted that if i squeeze the edge brackets together tighter, the effects get less but ive found this to be less and less effective at reducing the problem over time. could it possibly be due to screws being loosened?

The inverter changes the voltage to what the CCFL needs. The laptop is receiving DC power from the AC adapter so running on battery would make no difference.

Your inverter is probably on its way out

Well, I finally got the inverter and installed it. The LCD was extremely dim to the point where you could barely see it when I put in the new one. I reinstalled the old one to check if I had messed something up maybe while installing it and the brightness returned to normal but the flickering returned. Why do you guys think this happened? Would it be because I ordered a wrong inverter?

I'd like to note that the p/n was listed in the spare part number compatibilities though...

The flickering might be caused by the lid switch, its located near the back.

hm, i might not have been clear but the old inverter still has the flicker and hiss. the new inverter doesn't flicker or hiss but is extremely dim for some reason. the spare part number that was listed with it matched the one i needed though. do you guys think maybe the people sent me the wrong inverter?
