    it will help protect you against viruses and prevent unauthorized intrusion...however, assuming it's an unencrypted connection, keep in mind, all traffic that goes out or is received is sent in clear text. So, if you're going to enter any passwords into websites or anything, be sure the site uses SSL or https or something similar.

    Isn't it rare now for a site to not use SSL security? I can't think of any sites right now that don't have a secure sign in. At least that I've noticed, I think its something I take for granted.
