My DV2500 was sitting there collecting dust for the past.... year or so. I had taken it to a nearby repair shop to try to heat it some months back but after a day or two it died. Two weeks ago I figured I would give it another shot and instructed him to heat it until the bloody thing melted. He told me it might not work at all, I told him it's dead anyway so go all out.
Well, it's been two weeks now and it's still running...
A couple of times coming out of sleep/display off it froze and I got the hardware error and sometimes I would get the weird LSD screen. But I stopped letting it go to sleep and it hasn't happened again, in fact I haven't turned off the laptop at all the past few days and I haven't gotten another error. After I got it back on the 4th day, I tried running the Windows Performance Index test, knowing that I tried running it back when I tried fixing it the first time and it failed, and it failed once again. But after leaving it on for a few days now I tried running it and it ran without a hitch. I don't know if keeping it on constantly the past few days without letting it cool down has further healed it? Or if I just need to keep it on at all times so there's no cooling/heating that will further weaken the already messed up solder points. Anyone have any ideas?
Laptop back to life...
