What is way too hot? Do you have a temp reading? Try using NHC... or take a look at the Cooling Guide . :)

well my temp reading are gathered through speedfan, my cores are in the 90's
and the internal temp peaks at 100+
I'll try again tonight using NHC

at idle my cores are usually below 50

I'm only running into these extreme temperature when watching HD content
more specially a any 1080p H.264 file, I finally found the problem that cause the video to stutter after 10-20 mins of play, the laptop is overheating

Definately something wrong with your laptop. This a is vital point, speedfan gives you an inaccurate temperature reading. In fact, add about 15 degrees to whatever temp speedfan is giving you, this is the actual temp. My 2500t maxes out at 85 degrees using coretemp. I would highly advise sending your laptop in, and if its new, getting a replacement. Please install coretemp and let me know what the core temp is while idling.

sweet, we have the exact specs for the 2500t minus HDD size
no laptop cooler but I did prop up the laptop using some plastic stands.
these are my temps at idle

readings from NHC (core temp reported same results)

so how bad does this look?
I've had the laptop since June'07 and did the dust blower tip, haven't really wanted to open up the whole thing though
