Hey guys I have a question about running a laptop chip on a desktop. I had a AMD Turion ML-44 2.4GHz single core socket 754 chip and I'm trying to find out if it can be used on a desktop 754 motherboard.

Specifically a replacement for a HP Pavilion a6700z:

Anyone with some experience help me out here?

I have also considered just posting it on the Pay it Forward thread here so anyone interested in the chip please let me know! :)

if they are the same socket yes, but mobile cpus are usually different sockets than of dekstop boards.

usually desktop boards with mobile sockets cost a little more, and arent really worth it.

Interesting, didn't think they'd fit due to physical size.

Just turn your laptop sideways, put it under your desk and hook up an external keyboard combo and monitor. BAM! You got a desktop with a laptop chip. :) lol
