So my laptop just hit one year old (dv6000t), well it did in September anyway. And its still going strong. Windows has slowed down a bit and I'm going to to do a clean install of windows soon and the battery has wore down but besides that its still great post warranty.
How's everyone else's doing a year later?

Any problems you had so far?
-
Mine's a year too but I don't know what's causing my wi-fi to act weird. Maybe it's Vista (x64). I have a dv2000z
-
My Compaq V3000 turned a year old in August, no problems, save for the normal wear and tear and that I accidentally took off some keys.
-
Not too good. First battery had it's life go from 4 hours to 1.5 hours. Lots of wear on keys. Graphic driver screws up on CS sometimes. still have a loose hinge/keyboard (I gave up on HP trying to fix it).
-
Yeah my battery has gone to ****.. I'm looking at buying a high-capacity 6cell or a 12 cell but I can't find it worth a damn on their site
Anyone give me a hand?
I have a 6140ca (DV6000z) -
Try the battery at costco.com it is about $95 shipped for the 12cell.

I haven't had any problems. But My battery has lost around half of its max capacity; so I'm searching for the high-capacity one as well. Still looking for a good graphics driver. I also have noticed some wear on the keyboard. And besides reinstalling windows I'm also thinking of taking it apart to clean the vents.
But overall I'm still satisfied with my purchase. The wear on the battery and some on the keyboard is to be expected; and the graphics driver isn't HP's fault -
Typically in a year, a battery goes to 75% of it's original capacity. That would be 3 hours instead of 4 (the initial time I had in the beginning). I have 1:30, which is 37% of the original capacity.

My dv2017ea is just over a year old, the original battery has died, I bought a 12 cell replacement, but had to the send that back because it refused to calibrate, and would spontaneously die when running on battery power. I now have my second 12 cell battery, but this one also refuses to calibrate. It dies less often on battery power than the first, I have been able to run it from 100% down to flat without any random shutdowns, but this still doesn't seem to be enough to calibrate it.
Whats more, in the few days that I have had it, the storage capacity bar in the HP Battery Check Utility has already begun to degrade.
Any thoughts or advice? -
I believe the electronics behind either the HP batteries or the HP charging circuits are very cheap. Lithium Ion batteries should not degrade as fast as the HP ones do. I've had my laptop 8 months and I've lost 40 percent of my battery life already. I'm on pace for around 60-70 percent loss in 1 year. It's too bad they took the cheap road on these batteries. The notebook market moves fast, granted, but 2 years shouldn't be unreasonable. A well cared for battery should be able to retain at least half of it's original charge after a 2 year period.

My V3000 (i believe comes with a 6-cell standard) has dropped from its original 1:45 to about 50 minutes if im lucky. Its about 1 year 5 months old.
I'm going to try some battery calibration stuff in ubuntu but this wear it ridiculously fast. My old ZD7000 was still lasting over an hour after 4 years.
Anyone have a link to a 12-cell battery? I found a Higher capacity 6-cell somewhere online but cant find the link to it again. The higher capacity 6-cell had twice the amp-hours as the original one. How does that work? -
My nw8440 is having the same issues with the battery after a year and a half. Where I used to get 2 1/2 hours, I now get 35 minutes. And everyone says I'm lucky: Most of my classmates' nw8440s will die the instant you pull the plug.
I've also had the the power adapter replaced 5 times, and the fit and finish of the laptop has degraded somewhat (uneven gaps, loose touchpad on the right, microcracks in the case below the hinges, keyboard finish wear/flex, etc).
But considering that this laptop has seen near daily use and travel since I've owned it, I'd say it's doing quite well. Besides the battery and the power adapter, I've had no any real "serious" issues with the machine so far. -
The batteries on our dv9030us and dv9260us are performing great. I have not noticed any loss in either one, but I haven't run a battery check on them lately. I purchased the extended 3 year warranty with accident replacement for both notebooks since we wanted to hold onto them for a while. So far absolutely no complaints for either machine!

Almost everyone is complaining abt bad battery life (in terms of years) and loose body parts. My notebook is still being built and its already taking my faith in HP notebooks out. I was expecting a notebook with a 3-4 year lifespan... Battery probably can still be replaced, but loose body parts seems like a problem.
How much is the difference in battery life of "6 cell" and "6 cell High-capacity"?? -
@ prabhg, from what I have seen where you bought the laptop definitely makes a difference. Also a pre configured rig seems to perform better in my research. But these findings are highly subjective. I miht as well be wrong. Besides HP makes great laptops so don't worry and enjoy your new rig!
