I recently bought a monitor for use with my laptop. I want to close the lid on the laptop and JUST use the monitor as apposed to using both of them.
However, I have a problem. whenever I close the lid on my laptop it turns off. How do I keep it from turning off when the lid (screen) is closed?
There doesn't seem to be a dummy switch I can override on this anywhere I can see like on the older laptops. I have a HP dv2120us media center laptop.
Thanks

Go to control panel, power options, advanced and select for what to do when closing lid to nothing.

Go into control panel inside windows and go to power options then once in there look for the options that are currently set for notebook lid close behavior. I suspect yours is either currently set to either hibernate or standby. You will want to change this to do nothing when you close the lid that way nothing will the notebook will do nothing when you close the lid
Hope this helps you... -
