    Laptop shuts down while installing windows

    I have a Compaq Presario V2000, I'm trying to install windows back, it crashed on me while cleaning up some viruses. When I load the Compag system recovery CD and the setup windows screen comes up it goes through the whole process of load the drivers and as soon as the prompt comes up saying setting up windows it shuts down on me.

    Try installing a linux distro or do a clean windows install, to see if it is a problem with your recovery discs.
