    okso i got my nc8430 all set up, internet and all. i installed titn quest and when i run it my laptop gets phenomenallywarm,it is usually a steady 55oC but when i play the game it shot up to 70/80oc andhad to be shut down. isthere anything icould download to cool the machine downand run thegamebetter? drivers and watnot? please help me.

    i believe that HP is working on this...i would suggest that you purchase a cooling pad in the meantime.

    if I find a software based solution I will let you know. this is the only concern that I have about this laptop, and I intend on solving it.

    funny...I guess I really do enjoy engineering! anyway, I'll work on it when I get my notebook. what program are you using to monitor the temps? I myself like Notebook Hardware Control.

    i was using that but i changed to MobileMeter to see if it came up the same, it did but only with titan quest, i removed TQ and installed guild wars (which btw looks frickin beautiful on these machines) and it runs alot cooler at 62oC, if i run it in a window it runs steady at 60-62oc as well. ok so it doesnt involve us having to send back our machines? lol because im very happy with them aside from the heating up on graphically intense games. if the temperature is relatively low with GW, world of warcraft shouldnt be a problem. cheers
