    Laptop won't turn on after opening it after it has been closed

    I have an HP Pavilion Laptop, it's about 2-3 years old. For the most part it runs great but there is one thing it randomly does that is getting annoying. We keep the laptop on most of the time but close the lid when we won't be using it for a while.

    Sometimes (probably about 25% of the time) when we open the lid the blue power button will be blinking. When we push it to wake it up it won't do anything. Normally when we open it back up all we have to do is hit a few keys to wake it up but when the blue light blinks we can't do anything to wake it up. Even if we hold the power button down it won't shut off, the only thing we can do is take out the battery and unplug it and then turn it back on.

    When it first started doing this a few weeks ago I thought it could be related to the battery, so we removed it but it still does it.

    I've searched the internet but can't find any solutions to this, anyone have any ideas why it could be doing this and a possible fix?
