Hey Yall!!
Im using a hp notebook dv6565ca
Ever since i installed one of those drivers from their web site, my FAN isnt as silent as before....
Have you guys noticed these issues??? I mean, arnt these drivers -configured- to be more "Laptop-ISH- in battery save, heat production and all..
Even my battery seems to not last as long as before?
Im I just paranoiing or something???? I do like the Performence Boost.... but i dont want it at the cost of hearing my fan kick in more often since im usualy at my school library...

-
Yeah, I did notice that my laptop fan is running more with laptopvideo2go drivers. In my case I did notice that my GPU is running at 350MHz most the time and with the original drivers it was 100MHz...
-
Im using the 165. drivers (only stable one) and my fans still act normal, maybe even better. Im lying down on my bed right now and the fan hasnt kicked in that much since the core temps are only 43. Its on a geforce go 7200
-
-
Ive tried several drivers, some would load games some wouldnt, some would disable Aero and some would just give me a black screen with lines. Its probably more compatible with the latest gfx cards as my 7200 is pretty outdated. The 165. is as stable as its gonna get for me..
I just tried installed the latest one (163.73). Suprisingly it worked but the fps kept spiking when im playing cs source and was noticeable slower (in-game and loading time). Had to roll back :/ -
163.44 are the miracle drivers for me on my 8400M GS
-
I'm still on 162.15.
-
Well.. I'm using the 15x.xx series and my last driver is 156.65 , which didn't need a modded INF, it's build original for laptop gpu's. and while it is working great, fan run most of the time, so I'm thinking going to the driver that came with my laptop....

I have a geforce 8400m GS, should i opt for those drivers that same to be "silent" or do you gives believe another version is better... because its really ANnoying hearing my fans on most of the time, EVEN In Power SavE mOD!!! (which i usualy didnt here my fan kick in..) Oh, and im currently using the 163.44 drivers..... -
There are 8400m GS silent drivers? Wtf. Hook me up with that.
-
well? ddoes anybody have a clue.... I really need more "silent" while not loosing too much performence drivers!!
Could anybody tell me what are the BEST LAPTOP Drivers for an 8400m GS.....
Im really tierd of -trial-ing- without any results!
Thx for your help all! -
To be honest with you it looks like every driver acts differently for every card.
You really need to find the right one. Checking for stability, benchmarking and maybe even WEI will help you find the right one.
The 165.01 does me fine even if its like 5 months old. Have you given 165.01 a try?
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/vista, first one. -
I've formatted and reinstalled Vista almost 10 times since I got my system on the 9/24, and I have FINALLY gotten my system to run PERFECT.
How I did it? After installing a clean version of Vista, install the 163.44's from here: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=14562
Every other driver from the default ones that came, the new ones on HP's website, 156.65 to the 163.69, 163.71, etc. all caused choppiness in my Windows Aero, every single one of them.
The only one that didn't do this was 163.44. Now if I had installed another driver, then uninstalled it from Control Panel, and used Driver Sweeper or any other driver cleaning program and then installed 163.44, I would still get choppiness.
This is how I KNOW now when you switch drivers it's not the same as it would be on a clean system where nvidia drivers have never been installed.
I used to always disable System Restore right when I installed the OS, what a mistake, never again. System Restore is sooo sick and has helped me troubleshoot and finally get my OS running SMOOOOTH. This is how I imagined Vista to be, not that slow choppy crap that every other nVidia driver gave me.
Oh, and I also refused to install ANY Conexant driver, including the Modem and Sound. They completely mess up your Vista, dont believe me? Do a system restore before, then install them and see how crappy your startup and other stuff become.
The Native Vista drivers are PERFECT and Conexant drivers are not necessary. Until they fix that startup issue big, I refuse to install them. -
Yeah, always use native drivers.
Then again, I reverted from the default natives for my Video and Audio in favor of the ones from Realtek and LaptopVideo2go. (I actually have the newest 163.74 ones from LaptopVideo2Go, and they're working flawlessly, though I can't discern any perceptible increase. Oh well.)
I updated the Realtek drivers because the equalizer settings are gorgeous.
I don't understand why you would use System Restore, though. Isn't it really choppy just using the program? Then again, that was my experience with windows XP, not Vista.
Oh. No laptop is running perfect until you undervolt it, I think. I've squeezed out about 45 more minutes and less heat by using RMClock. -
ok, but the topic was really about the Silent* drivers* i was searching for...
-
Not to be rude, but read between the lines. Some laptops share a heatsink for both the CPU and GPU, meaning that undervolting the processor for heat intensive tasks means less heat for your GPU, meaning less fan spin ups.
Seriously, if you even ask for help on undervolting, search for it on some other topic. You haven't even posted a response to flipfire's suggestion, possibly meaning that you're looking for some simple, clear cut answer. If so, I have an easy fix for you. Lower your air conditioning. Or, point a fan at your laptop. Both viable options for the illiterate consumer. -
i understand what you mean about the whole concept of the Heatsink gpu-cpu...
But if your read my inital post, you might of realised that i REMENTIONED the drivers issue because my fan Kick in way more often then before since i installed the laptop2go drivers....
PLEASE Read the Inital Post before saying i was a rude person, you guys were out of topic, in a way... since i was talking about driver issues, not the whole concept behind heat creation, jeezzzz -
-
what is your problem, do you really want to create un-wanted situations. THIS IS ISN'T HIGH SCHOOL BUDDY, so quit it with your childish comments like quote"if you read this far down".
Did i reply in a rude Manner, NO.-
I did do all the "standard" procedures.... i just wanted the opinion of other dv6000 users with an gefoce 8400m gs under their hood. Thats All.... Drivers. -
I'd quit with the whiny and spoiled attitude that is characteristic of high school girls. All demands and no thanks are sure to move you up the totem pole of life. -
Alright calm down boys, before both of you get kicked off this forum. There's a huge discussion thread in the Graphics Forum about drivers and the 8400m GS. It's not possible to find the "best" drivers for something, so stop looking. Settle on one that works, and be done with it.
Now no more name-calling.
LaptopVideo2Go driver issues.... fan issues...
