Just thought I'd let everyone know a major BIOS release just popped up on HP's website.

    Going from F.09 to > F.22 A on my dv9500t.

    Cheers

My new notebook that I received on 28th Aug came packed with the new F.22 bios and the bios was dated 17/Aug/07. Needless to say I was pleased :D

Actually it is new, the date on the site reflects when the BIOS was released.

They just made it available to the public today, so unless you bought a new dv9500t you were stuck with an old BIOS, because HP slacks when it comes to updating their website.

Anything new other than what was posted. Interesting that it went from .09 to .22. It is documented as fixes to the following:
Fixes issue where the wireless LAN (WLAN) cannot search for an Access
Also mentioned that it has support for some additional dual core processors.

Any tweaks to temps and fans...typically I have seem them get worse when they tweak this area.

    Thanks.

I find that the newer BIOS is much better than the F.09 most currently have. I don't hear the fans at all and the keyboard/touchpad has never gotten even warm for me, always nice and cool. I have also noticed that performance of the computer in general just seems to be a tad bit better, propably due to all the fixes in between F.09 and F.22 A.

I have a feeling the reason they finally updated the BIOS is because customers including me:

Sent the CEO complaints asking HP to step it up when it comes to posting updated drivers, software etc.

so does it do something good to the temp or not? Mine keeps a Temp of 64 to 65 C, and the HD 40-45 C. After I purchase the XPAD for laptop. Without it my 9500t used to reach 84 C and 60 C HDD. So if this Bios fixes some how the heating problem it'd worth trying.

Avillabon type 'define BIOS' on google. Its pretty much the startup booting program that loads first

Is this BIOS version worth upgrading too? Mine was made in May so it should have the older version. What are the main benefits and downsides of updating?

The old 9500t which I returned because of noisy fan. Indeed, the chassis used to get hot and the fan used to kick in every now and then. My new notebook with F.22 doesn't have those problems, it runs cool and the fan keeps dead silent, I find it kicking in only during gaming or some intense activity, all the while maintaining calm.

I appreciate the info, but does anyone have some before/after numbers that we can go by or some more definitive changes noticed, or is this version just for hardware support? Thanks.

I had version F.12 and I don't see much difference. I upgraded to verson F22 now and it did not break anything that I can see. If you have a older version then the one I had, F12, then you might see better fan/cooling performance as stated earlier. It appears safe.. just follow the precautions when flashing.. It a windows executable so its ralatively painless process. I think it may have improved the cooling and fan a bit for myself.. but can't be sure. If your fan runs allot and is loud.. this may be a worthy upgrade.. and I believe it to be safe at this point.

I just bought DV2550SE on AUG 24. From HP site, it released some new drivers. I have a question. My laptop runs well now. Is it necessary to update drivers including BIOS?

I got my dv2500 on August 23 and I'dont understand why my BIOS version is F.0A.. Fan is working all time, starts few seconds after NB start.. and I checked hp web and there is only F.13 version for dv2500  ! From where you get that topic? Flashing bios is not funny thing, so I wanna be sure..

I will share with you a phrase that I learned some time ago, and I'm glad I learn it: "IF IT AIN'T BROKEN...DON'T FIX IT". That might keep you out of some trouble with your devices.

So if you'r happy with the Bios you have. Keep it. And if there's something wrong with your laptop and the new update will make it better... then FIX IT!! ;)

Click Help and support in start menu, in there you will find link to "system information" click on that, there click on Firmware(BIOS)

or you can get to your boot menu by pressing f10 on startup, there you will find it in the bios settings...

be careful on changing your bios. My DV2500t came with F0A and I flashed F13 and it killed my laptop. Now I have to send it to them for repair. 9 days without my laptop...hmm.

If you go to the Windows XP link for drivers and not the Windows Vista one, yeah you can.
