    So the tv-tuner cards are on sale now on a CTO HP notebook but I could never follow the performance and specs of these on either series notebook... Ive been hearing things about dual rendering performance vs. single along with other stuff I just couldnt understand...

    I wouldn't consider a tuner that can't do HDTV. Check out http://www.autumnwave.com. I have one of their USB tuners. Very nice device and their support is very good. It does both digital and analog and you can hook up both your cable TV and antenna at the same time.
