Is LightScribe worth getting? It's only a $25 upgrade when ordering direct from HP.
    Pro's and Con's
    How long does it take?

I had a desktop drive with it. It took about 30 minutes to make the disc which consisted of a bunch song titles. I would say not.

I used light scribe for the first time yesterday on L2000.
It took about 15-20 minutes. But the results were neat!

No more stick on labels on my CDs. I like it.

So what if it takes 20 mins? You can still use your computer
    while it's etching.

    I say go for it.

Well right now, the discs are expensive and burning is slow but I'd go for the upgrade, burning will still be slow but these disks will get cheaper over time. Or, you can wait and get an external Lightscribe burner thats faster.

    although it's only $25, I would pass.

Expensive media, slow burn....just not worth it.

Better to get discs that you can print on with an inkjet. It's much much faster and the results are great - and in color.

    Lightscribe is a fad.

Well I ended up ordering it, I figured for less than a tank of gas it was worth it!

I disagree, but to each their own.

    Stick-on labels? How 1990s.

Lightscribe is a fad. Thermal paper for CDs...whoop-dee-doo.

You have to pay more for the CDs, DVDs, and wastes time.

Get a inkJet that can print directly on a CD/DVD. Full color. Faster. Cheaper.

Lightscribe is definitely worth $25. What I wonder though is if you can get different colors for the background color of the label. I'm not partial to the brown color that is on the CDs that I'm using. I'd prefer a lighter color like white or light blue.

Expensive media? My girlfriend just bought a spindle of 50 CD-Rs for $20 at Best Buy. That doesn't seem like THAT bad of a deal. If I wanted to burn junk discs that didn't require any labeling then yeah, I'll get a 2nd spindle of CDs for like $8 or whatever but it's sure nice to have that capability. I just ordered a laptop and got it w/ Lightscribe. It's there when I need it, but if I don't need it, that's fine too.
