    Hey guys,

I have an nc8430 and I enabled the Credential Login Wizard, so I can use fingerprints to log into windows. That screen takes forever, however, to go from the "select your account" window to the "scan your fingerprint" one - between a minute and two. Is this common? My old Windows login, the normal version, didn't take this long. On the plus side, when I do log in, Windows shows up very quickly - but it's still annoying to sit there for a while staring at that Credential Wizard screen. Any tips?

    Thanks!

I'm not very experience with fingerprint readers or the software, but make sure other stuff isn't bogging your system down at startup. Go to run>type msconfig>click the startup tab>click disable all> then go back and manually add what programs you want when windows starts up. Sorry thats all the help I can be.

Thanks for the tip - I did go in and turn off about a third of the startup selections, but it didn't seem to help the Credential Manager speed up. The weird thing is that even when it's just sitting there, not going to the "fingerprint scan" screen, the hard drive doesn't seem to be spinning or anything - the computer seems to be idling. The "stuff's happening" light, as I call it (the LED indicator under the three stacked discs) isn't on at all.

For those that know the HP credential manager software, could it help if I turned on the embedded security chip? I never did, when I got the computer.

Have you tried upgrading to the most recent version of credential manager?

Mine did a similar thing until I upgraded the software.

I'll certainly try that - do you know where to go to update it? I'm running version 2.00 C3 of ProtectTools, it says.
