I just bought the Logitech Z-5500 surround speakers for music. I have a HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop. When I set up the speakers all I could get working were the sub and the front speakers. I did some research and tests and figured out that my sound card doesn't support 5.1 (womp womp). After looking online at other related issues the Creative X-Fi Expresscard seemed to be the resolution, I'm not entirely sure though.

Bottom line, if I buy the X-Fi for my laptop will I be able to have the 5.1 surround sound working? If not PLEASE tell me how I'll be able to have the 5.1 surround. Thank you all.

I bought the Express X-Fi specifically for the prupose of having true 5.1 surround sound. When i connected it to my HTS Pioneer 1000 WATT 5.1, at first i thought i was using a whole new sound system. All of a sudden all 5 speakers lit up with twice the amount of power and they ALL worked in 5.1 unlike before when i had the same problem as you i.e. only three speakers worked and worked poorly. Buy this card and buy the 5.1 extension module if you dont have an optical connection on your reciever/woofer/amp/whatever
