    Looking for impossible to find motherboard!

    Ok heres the deal.. I am looking for a HP motherboard Part#396696-001
    It's out of a BRAND new HP DV4000 series laptop. If anyone can help me.. please let me know!!! HP says even they can't supply it! What's the deal?!

    This is a fairly new model and therefore most parts are being used for production or service (repairs). In some cases, the boards can be so new that it's not even available for service. The sale of these parts to anyone will of course be at the bottom of their list (production 1st, service 2nd, sale 3rd).

    If your systemboard is dead, send it in for service. If you messedup you systemboard yourself (liquid spill, user damage), then I guess you either have to send it in for service (non-warranty) or wait until someone has the part (either eBay or HP). Since this is a fairly new unit, you may have to wait a while on the eBay front.

    Well, I am working on this laptop for someone else. I typicall buid and repair desktops only. But this was for a freind. I am not sure wether it was user error (liquid spills, or dropping it) that made it stop functioning, but HP said they would take it and see if it can be repaired or replaced. I hope so. Thanks yall!
