HP changed the way they do coupons, they now do smaller $ off and % off but combine any instant rebates that exist, they used to do away with the instant rebate after applying any coupon. Therefore you only get 15% or $150 off coupons these days. I just posted all current coupons here:

There were 30 and 40% off coupons just over a month ago.
The larger coupons give better discounts when they are active compared to combining "instant" discounts with modest % off.
When HP gives 30% or 40% or $450 off, the final selling price and discount are much better.
The larger discounts are still available, but they don't happen all the time.
To get them one must be patient and then buy when they come.
Example:
Optioned a DV7T, priced at $1200 MSRP.
With a current 15% off coupon, the selling price is $1020. That sucks!
Last week there wasn't a 15% coupon, but there was $150 off. $1200 with $150 off equals $1050. See, pretty much the same discount.
Worse, there was a shipping fee with the $150 off.
If HP did combine the "instant" discount and then allow the coupon, then a 15% off would be a great discount.
$1200 - $150 instant = $1050, then 15% off = $892.50. Not bad.
But, $1200 - 30% = $840
$1200- 40% = $720
$1200 - $450 = $750
Those are the really GREAT discounts.
The current offers are nominal discounts. With $150 off or 15% off that is what these laptops should sell for in the first place.
If you shop similarly equipped HP's at discount outlets, meaning "ready builts", they are already priced below MSRP by 10-15% anway.
Right now the discounts are nominal.
Free shipping is nothing great considering that if you bought it at the store you don't pay for shipping anyway.
Example:
Costco is selling a DV6T quad for $900 + $30 shipping. Also remember with Costco you get an additional year of warranty.
Equally optioned and priced on the HP website the MSRP is $1214.
Subtract the current 15% on Envy DV6T quad, $1214 - %15 = $1032.
Costco's price is better at $930 shipped.
Both Costco and HP will charge sales tax, so no difference there.
Costco's price beats HP's 15% coupon discounted price by $100.
Costco's price is a bit better than 25% off, before shipping is added.
Hopefully there will be something right after Thanksgiving next weekend and the week after.
I'm ready to buy a 17" DV7T quad but not at the current pricing.
I'd love to stick with HP as I've had very good reliability with them, but the price has to be right.
Looking to buy HP ENVY dv7t... any coupons?? 30% or $450??
