    Hello there,
I'm looking to upgrade my HP dv6 1362nr laptop. I currently have a Core Duo T6600 on a PM45 Intel Motherboard. Also, I have a 7200 rpm hard drive with it. I'm considering upgrading the hard drive to a ssd and uping the processor. I found out that the cpu socket is Socket P. So it looks like I could potentially put a quad core into my laptop. But, I've read that there probably will be issues with power. My question is: what processors can I upgrade to? Also if you like to suggest a ssd I'm welcome to hear it out ($100-$200 range).

PM45 technically supports all 1066 FSB Socket P processors, however many BIOS whitelisted the quad cores to protect their motherboards (in case circuitry couldn't handle the 45 watt processors). For specific information, if you could post your exact model or model part number. I can also move this to the HP Subforum where you could get more hits. More than likely your BIOS whitelists CPU's, you would be better off with a Core 2 Duo. You could look at a P8700, the best value for speed and cost. T9_00 (even number) also work but are still pricey.

Thank you so much for responding :D.
    My Model Number is: VV252UA#ABA

Now I have a good idea of which processors I can use. If you could move this the HP Forum that would be fantastic. Now I'm just wondering if my bios have restricted quad cores. Any idea on the chances? 0 to 100%?

I will suggest go for the hp pavilion dv 6 laptop, I am using it since 2 year and still in good condition otherwise if I talk about my friends laptop from others like Acer, Toshiba , they have already lost its battery backup and screen is also becoming sliding more and more. Also this hp dv6 laptop has good keyboard, classy look and launch button make it more easy to use.
