I've received another DV2000T yesterday, this time with an LPL screen--markedly better! It also runs much cooler and has no annoying intermittent fan noise, as the previous one did (for those who may remebmer my previous posts). I like it a lot and hope there'll be no more unpleasant surprises.

A question: I've noticed the 12 cell battery on this new notebook does not fit as snugly as it did in the previous one. I sense it moving slightly up and down when lifting it off the surface. What safe material could I possibly put under the battery to have it fit snugly? Any ideas? Thanks

When HP sends a replacement laptop...they usually just replace the screen only. Same serial number or same laptop comes back. Loose battery is comon too because the latch for the DV2000 aren't very good. You can use a soft cushion ( synthetic material like a foam) or anything that doesn't get near the battery connection to the laptop.

P.S- You can change your signature to LPL =)....great isn't it!

I made a whole new order, as I was still within the 21 day return timeframe. Yes, the LPL screen is much, much, much better!!! And you don't realize the extent of the difference until you experience a SEC and non-SECs in personal use.

Thanks for the foam advice? What about the protective material that comes in between the keyboard and the screen? Can that be used safely, given that the battery can at times get warm?

HP seems to have an issue with their batteries coming in a wide variety of shapes... even when they're the same part! I had a standard and a 12-cell battery for my zv6130us and the standard one seemed at least 3-4 millimeters too small all around for the compartment. (yes I had the right 'cover' attached)

It even rattled when I moved it around- which scared the crap out of me especially when I was working on something. Luckily it never affected the power couplings, which makes me think the latches on the contact side are tighter than those on the opposite.
