Last week, I inadvertently dropped my backpack on tile floor in the school bathroom, which shattered the strap bracket on my backpack.

Books took most of the impact and my laptop was not damaged in any noticeable way, but today, I noticed something rattling inside my LCD assembly. Fearing I might have caused a plastic tab or something to break, I removed the LCD cover to investigate.

Well, the rattling was caused by a screw that must have been missed and dropped during production as I found the correct spot for it and there was nothing cracked/stripped, so it was very obvious it was not popped out by impact. I think it was just lodged somewhere and jarred loose from the impact.

    Talk about quality :\

I think you misunderstood my post. I know where its supposed to go.

I have a spare LCD assembly for this computer that I got on Craigslist and after checking it, I quickly identified where the free screw belongs by direct comparison.

It was literally rolling around inside the LCD assembly. I have never disassembled the LCD on this computer, so I know that it has nothing to do with my error.

There are 4 screws, one in each corner securing the LCD panel to rails. One on the lower bottom was missing.

On another note, The service manual is incorrect on the screws used for the keyboard cover. If you use the screw length specified in the manual, you will bust through the keyboard cover. It's supposed to use a pair of shorter screws.
