I'm not sure what happened, but one day I had sound and the next day I didn't. There is no sound from internal or external speakers. Device manager reports that there is no sound device (don't remember the exact wording, but it is as if the sound card/chip hardware just vanished!) The little speaker icon down in the system tray is gone!

A right click on My Computer followed by 'Manage' followed by 'Device Manager' shows me no Conexant device. It does show
    Audio Codecs
    Legacy Audio Devices
    Legacy Video Capture Devices
    Logitech mic (pro 9000)
    Media Control devices and
    Video Codecs

Where has my sound gone and how can I get it back? I miss my music!

    Thanks!

Have you tried "find new hardware" in device manager?

Well, I have done a 'Scan for Hardware Changes' in Device Manager. Is that the same as "Find new hardware? If so, it didn't find any. Also, I displayed hidden devices (what the heck is a hidden device?). It showed more devices but none of them was my Conexant sound device.
