On my notebook, I just noticed the DVD-drive pops right out. Upon close inspection, I now notice a screw hole right above the RAM box where I can see the DVD drive's little prong thingy moving as I slide the drive out and back in. Apparently the screw is missing. Cant think what I can I do about it. Can anyone please suggest something?
Thanks.

Any screw from the under side of the computer is the same as that screw for the disc drive. I have taken my dv6500t apart and many other hp's

1. If it's still under warranty you could perhaps send it in for warranty repair.
or
2. Buy a new screw. Go to the HP site and download the Maintenance and Service Guide from the manuals section for your notebook such as dv6700. There is a 'screw listing section' where you might find something like 'Phillips PM2.5x7.0'.
It might be a good idea to use a little 'soft' thread lock but be careful not to use a too strong one otherwise you may have problems getting that screw out again. -
Check the service manual for the screws specs.
Go to a hardware store and give them the sizes and type of screw. (counter-sunk if i remember correctly). You can use any replacement screw for now as long as it fits
Im currently using bling titanium allen key/hex screws on mine. -

can you elaborate on soft thread lock?? I am sorry, I didnt get what you meant.. -
Hardware stores will definitely have it.
Thread lock, its liquid that is like glue for screws.
Blue = Medium Hold
Red = Permanent
You dont need it though. HP actually uses thread lock on some of their screws. You will notice blue crap near the tip of the screws.
The drive should hold itself in without a screw but try replace it if you can. -
There are several sellers on ebay who sell "screw kits" for the hp pavilion. I believe they buy up broken laptops and part off things.
Try ebay.

Just to clarify, Thread Lock comes in different strengths such as low/medium/high, if you use it, use something on the low side.
Also it might be a good idea to check the thread on that 'little prong thingy' if you haven't already, i.e. is it stripped or sloppy. (Why did the screw go missing.)
I see there is a screw kit (434747-001) but the price...
If your not sure what to ask for at the shop, maybe just print out the relevant page from the manual and take that with you. -
