    Hi everyone,

A few years ago I bought the laptop HP Pavilion dv9000 and I was really pleased with this. But since a year or 1,5 I've noticed a lot of problems. First of all the laptop makes quite a lot of noice compared to other laptops. Another problem is that the laptop gets REALLY hot... After something like an hour you can even feel that the laptop is so hot just while you are typing. On the internet I've also read about stories where people's video card even got burnt and they lost everything. Something else is that I also can't put Windows 7 on this laptop... Almost every laptop with these specifications can do it, but this laptop can't... I'm not sure if this is true, but I've also read that people could even bring back this laptop in USA, but here in the Netherlands you can't...

So does anyone if I can do anything about all this, like for example contacting HP about this?

    Thanks in advance,

    Karim R.

The dv9000 series was legendary for its overheating issues. (I have a fried dv9700 in my desk drawer). The reason for this is that there is only one fan used to cool both the CPU and GPU. I'd suggest blowing your machine out with compressed air and investing in a cooler.

In regard to your Windows 7 install complications...

More information on the topic is needed. Is it strictly a software problem? Have you tried installing on a clean HDD, partition? Why can't you install Windows 7?
