    Loud ENVY 14 DVD Drive

    So, I've had my ENVY 14 for a while, and there's been a few things bugging me. First off, the whine, which I am learning to live with but it is still quite annoying. My second complaint though is with the DVD Drive. Whenever I open the laptop up from sleep or turn it on or anything, the DVD drive makes this really loud, like 3 second whiny noise. This is really embarrassing when I'm in the library lol. Do you all have the same thing? And is there anything I can do to shut it up?

    Is it possible to just disable the dvd drive? I really don't need it.
    I uninstalled the driver once but when I restarted it just reinstalled itself...

    well. you could disconnect it.

    or replace it with an odd tray (optical disk drive tray. you put a hdd in it)

    doing both would require opening up your computer and probably voids some warranty clause somewheres
