I have a brand new DV6-6027tx. After returning from sleep or just after turning the computer on, the fan makes a very loud burst for about two seconds and then goes off immediately. This occurs whether running on battery or plugged in, and under all power plans.

Having not bought HP before, I am not sure whether this is normal. According to some users on this forum, it is -- at least in earlier models.

This is not exclusive to HP; I have the same feature on my old Compal JFL92 laptop. It doesn't depend on any drivers, just the BIOS. I believe the reason it does this is to clear out the dust because I opened the laptop to clean it after 2.5 years or so and there was practically no dust in it.
