i ran 3Dmark01 and got a Horrid score of 8900 it seems Low to me my Emachine M6809, that i returned scored 9600 and that GPU had only 64mb of ram and and CPU was an athlon 64, hmm seems strange to me. Any idea's? I installed the 4.5 Omega's and it increased my score by 200 points. i set everything to proformance and turn everything that i didnt need off.

What are the Stock clocks for The 128MB Mobility 9600 that HP ships the laptop with? i ran 3dmark03 and i got 2535 as a score and the clocks were 311 for the core and 196 for the memory does that sound correct?

Those are the stock spec's. When I over clocked I put mine on,
GPU: 370MHz
Memory: 256.5 I got some artifacting toward the end of my bench marking so maybe that setting a little high for my gpu.

what program did u use for Overclocking?

www.omegadrivers.net
you can download the omega drivers there and it includes radlinker which is the over clocking software I used. I would like to mention sense then I removed it, I just ran 2 bench marks and did a system restore, make a restore point before installing. It boost performance but right now I'm just playing Unreal 2004 and have no problem running it on high and playing smoothly.

the Zd7000 was 1 of the notebooks i looked at, but the 64MB card and the 17 inch screen were cons and overall the Zx5280 was the better choice plus the Briteview screen is a big plus, its way better then the Emachines M68xx series screen. and this machine also came with 1GB of ram which was also good. Overall i feel i made the right decision.

The combination of products that Arima/eMachines put together in the m6809 work very well for gaming and other apps. After overclocking with the omega drivers, I was able to break 10000 on 3DMark01 easily, even with the 64MB VRAM.
As gaming machines, HPs are not the same as other manufacturers in terms of pure gaming power, even with the best GPUs. It is overall performance that HP notebooks excel in, especially zd7000s.
Also, if you use Norton, turn it off for the test...It uses a lot of the CPU and memory resources, which, in turn, lowers your overall score.
Low 3Dmark01 score on HP5280
