Hello Everybody
I just bought a Pavilion dv5030us.
This has probably been asked before but I couldnt fin the answer searching the forums.
Is there any way control the CPU speeds so that its always maxed out when I plug in the Laptop??
I can understand that the CPU is throttled back when running on batteries to save power but if the CPU is rated at 2 GHz why is it always running at 795MHz even when I'm on AC power???
Can I control this manually??
-
Control Panel -> Power Options -> For power schemes pick "Always on"
That will make the cpu run at its full clock speed. -

Enabling Always On option will increase significantly the temperature of the CPU. Higher temps are the main factor for semi-conductors failures.

Run MobileMeter to watch your CPU jump to full speed as needed. Definitely leave power management enabled.
If your CPU never jumps to full speed, reinstalling the AMD processor driver usually fixes that. Or your Power Scheme was set incorrectly. -
Thanks Guys I only wanted the full CPU power when I'm running CAD programs and games. For Regular ussage I always put portable saeetings

Quick question. If I change the SUB-Settings like turn-off monitors time does it affect the CPU speed setting??

Your laptop will automatically increase to max CPU speed when you need it. There really is no reason for it to run at max speed all the time. It will only shorten the life of your CPU if you do this.
