So, after having this laptop for a couple weeks now, I just noticed that whenever I plug in my headphones but have no audio playing, there is a clear hissing noise that can be heard out of the headphones. It is actually so bad that when playing quiet music, the music is distorted by the hissing in the background. Has anybody else had this problem? If so, any success fixing the hissing, or, at least, reducing it?

    Thanks in advance!

Try turning off the Beats power management.

Tried that, didn't make any difference. It would be great if somebody could just try putting some headphones in their laptop and seeing if they have the same thing. Thanks!

I have the low hissing as well. Is it only when you plug it into the laptop? Some headphones have a low hiss just for noise cancelling.

Not sure if that's the case since I haven't tested my headphones with anything else since it doesn't really bother me.

Yeah, it's only when I'm plugged in to the laptop. It's nice to know that somebody else at least has the same thing. It's not that big of a deal, just kinda disappointing, considering the headphone playback was supposed to be superb on this laptop.

    What notebook and headphone?

The headphones sensitivity might be high that it picks up the smallest noise.

Have you tried using a different headphone to see if this hiss still occurs? If it still occurs using other phones then it might be the source itself.

I thought all dv6 have that problem. Open the beats audio panel, go to advance settings and disable power saving. That is supposed to fix the irritating beep.

I do have some really sensitive headphones, they are Shure SE420's. Actually, I think you are right. I just plugged in some cheap Apple headphones and the hissing is very faint, almost gone completely. I guess there ain't nothing I can do to fix this one. Thanks for the help guys.
