I have a Dv9000 series and I'm curious if anyone has figured out a way to have an audible low battery notification?

I looked in the BIOS and didn't see an option.

The only notice I get is a popup saying the battery is low. I'm looking for something to BEEP at me, and let me know. If I'm playing a full screen application (like a game), the machine just goes into sleep mode without telling me why.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to get an audible notification of a low battery?

    Thanks in advance!

right click on the power icon in the system tray (either the plug or the battery) and select "adjust power properties". then on the window that comes up select the "Alarms" tab, here you can set the two alarms and the notifications and actions associated with them.

    Thanks for the reply!

I'm using Vista Home Premium. I just checked those options and I didn't see anywhere that I could set an audible alarm. It had a lot of options to configure the different power savings mode, but not an option to adjust for a sound.

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks again!

Under Vista, you need to go to Control Panel, then to Sound and then to the Sounds tab. There you will find a scrollable list containing "critical battery alarm." There, you may associate a sound that tells you it's time to plug in. This is the same as in XP. Unexplainably, in Vista, this adjustment is no longer available through the battery icon in the tray. I'm still trying to find Vista features that justify its existance.

Oops, I keep forgetting about that little thing called vista. I'm still using xp and every time someone asks a question I forget and post the xp instructions, maybe I'll catch on at some point. In my world there is no vista.
