I recently bought a dv9394 with vista home premium and its really great except for one thing, the sound volume is a bit on the low side. Its by no means unhearable, but I would rate it as just OK. I've had multiple laptops before, much smaller and cheaper than this one and the sound on those was much, much higher. All my volume in the vista sound mixer are maxed out...Any idea would could be the problem? I've got the latest sound driver through windows update (newer than the one through HP)
Any ideas? the dv9000 is a 17inch entertainment laptop and I expected audio at least matching ancient compaqs, sonys, dells and my previous NX series HP compaq :(

This happened to me on my previous laptop. The newest driver on Microsoft Update caused my volume level to decrease badly, so I reinstalled the original driver from the HP site and regained the louder sound range. You might want to give that a try and see if it makes any difference.
