Well, i posted a couple of days back with the 9600M GT in my DV5 getting to 106 degC, so i took it back and they ordered me a new one, the same model, the DV5-1010.

Now for the strange part, the processor in my last DV5-1010 was a P7350 @2GHz which is whats on the box as its specs. to my suprise, my new DV5-1010 booted up and is reporting a P8400 @2.26GHz. Just to double check i have used CPU-z and PC Wizard. both say P8400. So, have I just got lucky?? and If so, what the hell has happened? Its meant to have a P7350, did te factory just run out of them and used P8400s instead???

You just got a sweet free upgrade! Performance wont be massively different, but a 10% clock speed increase is nothing to sneeze at.

Shame on them! Should have given a P8600/P8700 at least.. :D
Maybe,I am being too ambitious! :D
And after that 106 drama I thought you had actually dumped the dv5 once in for all!!

ran 3dmark 06 twice in quick succession earlier and gpu hit 85 max and CPU hit 55-56 max, the fan spun up, but didnt stay on for long, so this one is running alot cooler than my last one. on my last one, the two cores of the processor had temps about 7-8 degC apart and with the GPU hitting 106, i think it was probably an incorrectly seated heatsink.

same thing here, with T9400, core 2 always seems warmer than core 1
no idea what happen, but as long as it work fine, I am happy about it :D
