I picked up a M2105US for $380 AF rebate today from American.....nice and quiet compared to CC, BB, or WM...lol...long story....anyway...
After removing the bloatware the machine is still doggy slow. The ram is the first candidate to upgrade to fix the problem.
From what I've seen online and and what HP states is that it maxes out at 1gig with 2x512meg sticks. My suspicion is that the laptop is not capable of using high-density memory sticks. However, I also suspect that low-density 1gig modules would be able to be used. Any thoughts?

It should be able to use 1GB PC2700 SODIMMs without any trouble. Crucial is the safest brand. I bought mine from Newegg. Crucial's website says that 1GB sticks are OK for that model (M2000z series).

zgamer - you might be better off with a fresh reformat + reinstallation of Windows, that will help.
Don't forget to install the latest drivers. In the Dummy Articles forum here, follow the "How to tune up a notebook computer" guide - I've had great success with that. -
Did the reformat still a tad sluggish(yes it's set to always on).
Edit: started snooping around the next and on the forums some more and stumbled across the v2000 conspiracy thread....explains quite a bit.
