I had recently bought an HP dv9700t, I also have a dv6700z. The Media Center Button (The green one) on express card remote for the dv9700t refuses to start WMC on the dv9700t. However it DOES start on the dv6700z. The other buttons (volumes and such) does work on the dv9700t. My question is, why doesn't the dv9700t pick up the WMC button on either remote?\
Edit:
In the title I meant to say Windows Media Center, not Media Center Edition ><

Which version of windows os are you running?

Compare QLB (quick launch button) driver version
The latest drivers seem to disable WMC button probably due to a security hole fixes. -
my media center button dosent work on my dv6500t or dv8000 either i never botherd to figure it out because i dont use the remote other then to show it to people because its cool lol. im gusseing it needs some sort of drivers but not sure where to get them.

I found you need to install HP QuickPlay for the MCE button to work on the remote.

if you have Vista Business there is no WMC. if the other buttons doesnt work then you dont have the Infrared Receiver installed then you need to install the quickplay buttons.

I found the VMC button on the mini remote stopped functioning after a while probably due to a conflicting application I installed. I tried uninstalling HP Quicklaunch an QuickPlay on my dv9260 and reinstalling them, but to no avail.
Then by fluke I tried uninstalling Quicklaunch and tested the VMC button on the remote...It worked! It seems at least with my setup that the Quicklaunch app was the culprit.
MCE button doesn't work on HP remote
